As the demand for data-driven decision-making continues to grow, the lack of diversity in the tech industry becomes increasingly concerning. Women and minorities remain underrepresented in data science roles, leading to a narrow range of perspectives. If you follow news about technology, you’ve probably heard about self-driving cars that can’t ‘see’ people with darker skin or face recognition algorithms struggling to identify people of colour. If we don’t get more diversity in data science, we risk perpetuating existing biases and inequalities in the industry. Without diverse perspectives and approaches to problem-solving, we may miss opportunities for innovation and overlook the needs of certain user groups.

In this article, I’d like to celebrate International Women’s Day by highlighting some of the exceptional data science resources created by women. By doing so, I hope to not only recognise the accomplishments of women in data science but also promote the importance of diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. I divided the article into a few categories: data science Youtube content, blogs and podcasts. I also added a few names of organisations supporting women in data science in case you’d need some help or if you’d like to volunteer with one of them.
